Adec 500 -Redefined
Since its launch in 2004, the A-dec 500 has become a well-known dental chair in the industry for comfort, reliability and ease of use. Meticulous craftsmanship and smart engineering have led to multiple award wins, year after year.
Now, A-dec have launched a completely revised and redefined new A-dec 500. There have been significant changes to the upholstery design, delivery systems and important new features have been added. While the backrest remains the iconic stingray-shape, the chair has a sleeker, more modern feel – with the technology to back it up.
The product development team at A-dec’shead office in Newberg, Oregon, started the project by conducting a large-scale survey across dentists in North America, asking them what their current dental chair, A-dec or competitor-made, was missing; what features do they wish it had and what could be improved?
The most popular response by quite a margin was that their delivery system drifted while they worked. Looking up during a procedure to find their instruments and materials had wandered out of reach. Not only is this irksome and inefficient, but the repeated lunging and twisting movements often made to bring the delivery system back into position can cause painful musculoskeletal disorders to develop over time.
To combat this issue, A-dec have created a new breed of delivery system; one that is so light and smooth, you can move it with just one finger… and with automatic braking it won’t even drift a centimetre. The Continental version has more flexible whip arms for improved reach and feel, while the Traditional delivery features an easy-to-position screen, perfect for ambidextrous surgeries. Go from left- to right-handed delivery in seconds.
Both systems have six instrument holders and have been developed with an ingenious new tray grip, which allows for flexible and sturdy positioning in any configuration, improving workflow. Everything you need is easy to position and comfortably within reach, Close in to your patient, your posture is healthy, your view is clear, and your reach is minimal. It’s amazing how time flies when you’re comfortable.
The new and improved delivery systems can also facilitate a brilliant new addition from W&H: Advanced Air. The world’s first air-driven, high-speed handpiece with adjustable bur speed, combining the cutting efficiency and control of electric with the tactile feedback of air. This integrated handpiece is compact and lightweight, yet powerful and precise. A true gamechanger that has to be tried to be believed.
While the new A-dec 500 has been developed alongside dentists, the patient experience has also been a clear consideration throughout the design. The chair is moulded to fit the patient like a glove, keeping them comfortable and secure up to a weight capacity of 500 lbs (227 kg), although the chair has been successfully tested up to 2000 lbs (907 kg). A rigid frame absorbs movement and optimises stability, while a powerful hydraulic cylinder guarantees smooth transitions with a 10-year warranty.
New armrests provide increased comfort and support, facilitating an even easier ‘in and out’ for the patient. A soft start/stop to the chair movement and virtual pivot synchronises chair movements with the patient for ultimate comfort.
Even installations and serviceability have been considered. The new A-dec 500 is more robust and servicing simplified to save dentists from costly downtime.
All of these innovations and improvements have brought with them a fresh, more modern look to the chair. Contrast stitching is a fresh take on the durable upholstery, which covers A-dec’s trademark thin backrest and articulating headrests.
A-dec products are engineered to last, but technology is ever-changing. With a flexible, forward-thinking design, the A-dec 500 perfects your practice today – and grows with it tomorrow.
